Curious to find out more about Lancaster? Fancy discovering how the city’s past connects with the histories of people from around the world? Join us for a tour of nine places in Lancaster’s historic Castle Quarter and its surroundings. We’ll view some of the city’s most iconic sites and landmarks, and we’ll consider how Lancaster’s story links with histories that span from the Roman Empire to the British Empire. Along the way, we’ll discuss Lancaster’s involvement in the transatlantic slave trade and contributions to the Industrial Revolution.
The tour will take place outside and is being conducted in partnership with LUSU Green where we will talk about how decolonisation and decarbonisation link!
We will meet outside the John O'Gaunt Gate of Lancaster Castle at 1.45 pm. Please dress appropriately for the weather (e.g., wear appropriate footwear for walking outside on a potentially drizzly morning or afternoon).
