Academic Reps inspire 'Embrace Digital' for students: A space for everything you might need for online learning

Embrace Digital, produced by ISS, is a digital resource with everything you could ever need for online learning at Lancaster, centralising and simplifying your online learning experience. 

Initially produced by ISS for staff, after consultation with Academic Reps and VP Education, Bee, ISS decided to make a student one too. In response, the students' union put together a working group of Reps to consult on the project. Our Reps have spent the year identifying areas of concern that students were having with their online learning experience and working with ISS on solutions and resources to be put together to make Embrace Digital.

Some of the key concerns and solutions include:

• many new students were unfamiliar with Moodle, so there is now a deciated section on how to use Moodle
• switching to online learning requires new skills, thus skills resources were added to help students develop their learning skills online, including note-taking, time management and group work (while these have been posted to help with the current circumstances, we know blended learning will be here for a while and that these skills can be applied to in-person learning too!)
• as we're approaching exam season, ISS are now developing interactive mock exams so students can see what an online exam might look like before their real exam, so there's no surprises on the day
