The Love Lancaster Business Awards celebrate successes from businesses within the Lancaster Business Improvement District Zone which includes the Sugarhouse nightclub. The Manager of the Year award recognises a manager who provides quality leadership to their team, ensures high levels of customer satisfaction and is a positive asset to the city centre. With over 1,500 nominations across all categories, being shortlisted as one of just three finalists in this category is testament to Aimee's outstanding commitment to our Sugarhouse and providing a great student experience.
Now working as our LUSU Events Manager, Aimee started her journey with the Students' Union eight years ago in 2015. After working as an Assistant Manager for some time, Aimee swapped the night shifts for days as our Events Coordinator in 2022 however, with the venue fully reopened and back to usual operations following the pandemic, we needed a Sugarhouse Manager and this is where Aimee stepped up.
During this time, Aimee not only kept the doors of our venue open, which may not have been possible without her leadership, but she became a respected and supportive manager to our team of passionate full-time and student staff. Recognising her hard work, Aimee was nominated by several members of student staff, FGH Security and contractors without whom we could not operate our venue.
Aimee also went above and beyond delivering a raft of old-favourites and brand new Sugarhouse events including Bongo's Bingo, movie singalongs and a massive Sugarhouse 40th Birthday Party featuring a Bastille DJ set!
Chief Executive of the Students' Union, Misbah, said that "this is fantastic news for Aimee and her team at the Sugarhouse and we are delighted at this nomination. Aimee works hard to make Sugar the great Sugarhome it is for students at Lancaster and this is a recognition of that work. It is especially pleasing that this nomination comes with the support of team members. We wish Aimee the very best of luck when the winners are announced. Everyone at LUSU is rooting for her."
This year's news follows further success for the Sugarhouse at last year's Business Awards with three nominations making it to the finals and two winning the award.
Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and presented at a ceremony in November. Good luck Aimee!
