VP Societies & Media election to be stopped and be re-run.

 

On receipt of elections complaints which identified the potential for individual candidates running in the VP Societies & Media election to have been disadvantaged , the Deputy Returning Officer for the Students’ Union investigated the complaints and has determined there is not evidence available to suggest a breach of election rules by any individual candidates in the election, however there is the strong probability that the process of the election has been compromised and an unfair advantage gained during this period.

 

In order to ensure a fair election process the Deputy Returning Officer, on consultation with our Returning Officers at the National Union of Students, has made the decision to stop the current election for VP Societies and Media and for it to be run again at a later date. The dates for this are still to be confirmed with the Returning Officers and will be published as soon as possible.

 

For the avoidance of doubt students are still able to vote for all the other positions in the Full Time Officer and Liberations & Campaign Officer elections which are currently taking place. Voting for these roles will open at 10am on the 9^th March 2022.
