Calling all current and new Lancaster students! Your VP Societies and Media is here to let you know that even though Freshers may have been and gone, that doesn’t mean the fun is all over. Come down to the Great Hall Complex on 31st January: it’s time for a Refresh!  

 

 

Whether you’re new to all that Lancaster has to offer or are already well integrated into your favourite societies, Refreshers is back, and it’s the perfect opportunity to say No to FOMO!  

Maybe you’re a new international or postgraduate student joining us for the first time (hi by the way! And thanks for choosing Lancaster!) Or you could be a continuing student who missed out on all the freebies last term (you’re telling me you didn’t get a free Roses bucket hat???) Whoever you are, and whatever your reason, Refreshers is most definitely for you.  

What will be there?  

Colleges/ JCR’s:

When you come to Lancaster, you’re automatically put into one of nine College’s depending on your accommodation preferences. Your JCR (also commonly referred to as SLAY-CR's...) will be there to tell you all about college life, events, socials, how you can get involved in your college sports teams and about any welfare events that your college puts on throughout the year. If you also wish to engage more into your college life and become a student leader, they will also be able to tell you all about how you can be active, make a change, and take part in organising and contributing to college life through joining the JCR!  

Societies:

Here at Lancaster, we have over 180+ Societies and Sports clubs for you to get involved and stuck into. From academic societies to special interests, we’re here to signpost you to your passions, your people, and hopefully the places that will help you find your sense of community here at Lancaster! Even for those of you who are already a part of a society, why not surprise yourself and try something new? Societies are a great way to meet new people, make new friends, and find a previously undiscovered secret passion (I joined korfball simply by throwing a ball at a hoop for the best part of 15 minutes and I haven’t looked back since!). Societies are here for you!  

It is never too late to get involved in a new activity! Especially if you’ve recently joined us on campus. For international students, we’ve also got over 50+ Faith, Culture, and Community Societies who we are closely working with in order to put on more inclusive and diverse events for every student! Societies are always looking for, and openly welcoming new members; for all you know, you could meet friends for life just by simply turning up (that’s how I ended up joining LUSing, where I met my Swiftie besties, and I will forever be grateful for that!)  

If this isn't enough reason for you to join... then I guess come along for a free slice of Domino’s because who doesn’t love a cheeky bit of free food? We hope to see you soon and can’t wait to see you all there for some societies slay-tastic fun!
