Hist soc in schools

Lancaster University Society of History recently visited Morecambe Community Primary School to deliver a project about Roman History.

Focusing on Gladiators and Democracy, LUSH taught 2 Key Stage 2 classes about Romans, Gladiators and Democracy while talking about university life and studying History at Lancaster. The classes created their own gladiators and Roman shields and presented them to the group and members of the society at the end of the day.

As well as encouraging children to think about going to university members of LUSH were able to gain teaching experience through the project.

Sophie Merrix VP Treasurer said,

“The opportunity provided by the Lancaster University Students’ Union Schools Team at Morecambe Bay Primary School has allowed Lancaster University Society of History to offer fantastic teaching opportunities to history students who may be interested in pursuing a teaching career. As a society and as students who love history we are incredibly eager to inspire children to further their historical knowledge in a fun and interactive way.”
