Every week our athletes represent Lancaster in the national British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Leagues.

And this week is This BUCS Girl Can Week, a national campaign with the aim of encouraging women to participate in sport and physical activity and also shine a light on women's sport and sporting achievements.

Most BUCS fixtures take place on Wednesday afternoons, and this week there are loads of opportunities to go and cheer our women's teams to victory when they compete here on campus - including chance to see our rugby team's pre-Roses clash with University of York.

Fixtures include:

Students' union Vice-President (Activities) Ben Francis said: "This BUCS Girl Can Week is a great opportunity to celebration our amazing sporting women. As we build towards a fantastic home Roses next spring, it would be great to see as many supporters as possible at our home fixtures this week.

"We've also got loads of great Give-It-A-Go sessions running through our societies this week, and hopefully this will be a good chance for students to try a new sporting activity."
