Since March, Central has been providing large vegetarian food boxes to students for £20 per box.

The boxes contain a variety of fresh fruit, vegetables and store cupboard staples to keep you going for several days.

The SU Advice Service has been providing these same Food Boxes to students in isolation on campus entirely for free using reserved funding. If you're struggling financially and you are worried about your ability to provide yourself with sufficient food, we're here for you. There is no means testing on these boxes, and if you have a need for it, please contact our Advice Service and let us know if you are self-isolating. The Officer team have also ensured that this food aid will be promoted to all students that go into self-isolation on campus.

We’re also in the process of providing an additional offer for students that will be based on the same model. The funding that is supporting this is shared with the food offer, and from already bought stock that is left over from the last year’s Womens+ Officer campaign.

The box’s contents have not yet been finalised, but will include things like toothpaste, shower gel, sanitary and hygiene products. Staff capacity is currently reduced but we will endeavour to make these boxes available to students as soon as possible.

If you have any concerns around this area of work, please contact Amy Merchant, VP Welfare: su.vp.welfare@lancaster.ac.uk

If you or anyone that you know need to access either of these services, please get in touch at: advice@lancastersu.co.uk
