Environmental Sustainability - Projects, Events and Societies

We offer a wide range of ways to get involved with Environmental Sustainability on a practical level.

The union's Environmental Sustainability team provides an ongoing programme of projects and events throughout the academic year. These provide the opportunity to learn or contribute towards sustainability within the ‘Green Lancaster’ priority focus agendas, including:

  • Agriculture and Biodiversity
  • Mobility and Transport
  • Resources and the Circular Economy
  • Energy

In the 2019-20 academic year, our projects and events have ranged from ‘Pendle’s Peelings’, a food waste composting project with Pendle College, to Restoring Hardknott Forest (an ecological restoration project in the Lake District), and visits to waste and recycling processing facilities across Lancashire.
