Establishing a New Society Workshop
Have you started a society which is going to make Lancaster an even more interesting place to be a student?
Do you want to join a community of over 1,000 other students who are leading society activity?
Do you want to share your skills, interests and ideas with other Lancaster students?
Are you motivated, driven and excited to develop your leadership skills?
If you've answered "Yes" to any of these questions, then this the event you need to attend!
At this session you'll receive a full briefing of what is expected of all new affiliated societies.
You'll be given an insight into how to establish your group, how to complete the application forms, the roles you'll need in your Exec, and you'll have the opportunity to network with other societies and people who can support your idea.
The workshop will involve plenty of team work and as such we expect that 3 leaders from your society will be able to attend to make the most of the event and so you can start planning together for the future!
Please Note:
- It is compulsory for all new groups to attend one of these events before a new society application can be processed.
- 3 leaders of your group must be able to attend, ideally your proposed President, Secretary & Treasurer.
- Please ensure you register onto the event by Monday 02nd March.

- Events run by societies, clubs, student groups and colleges may have additional terms and conditions. Please make sure you check your ticket details.
- Unless specified by the organising group, all tickets are non-refundable.
- The right of entry is reserved at all events.
- Breach of conditions or any unacceptable behaviour likely to cause damage, nuisance or injury shall result in the patron being ejected from the premises.
- Unless specified, tickets are sold for an unreserved standing event.
- Tickets cannot be exchanged, transferred or resold for commercial gain.
- The Students’ Union reserves the right to alter or vary the content or timing of the whole or any part of the event due to circumstances beyond reasonable control without being obliged to refund or exchange tickets.
- The Students’ Union cannot take any responsibility for any loss or damage to personal property brought to an event.
- There will be photographers, videographers and live-streaming on site at some Students’ Union events. By purchasing tickets you are accepting that photographs may be taken of you during the event and that these may be released into the public domain; examples of uses include, though are not limited to, publication on the Students’ Union Facebook page, Students’ Union website and our publications.
