Local Elections 2018: Question Time

Two vacant seats on Lancaster City Council, and eight candidates fighting for them. Ahead of the election on 17 May, this is your chance to hear your candidates debate eachother and to ask them your burning questions about their plans for the University and Scotforth Rural ward and the city. Open to all students, staff, and local residents.

Your City Council candidates are:

Amara Betts-Patel and Oliver Robinson, Labour

Guy Watts and Callum Furner, Conservative

Jade Sullivan and Iain Embrey, Liberal Democrat

Martin Paley and Jan Maskell, Green

Lancaster City Council plays a big role in the lives of students in Lancaster - whether you see it or not! They're the ones responsible for bins and recycling across the city, for the city's parks, for licensing our pubs and clubs (including Sugarhouse!), making sure food venues are up to scratch, and tonnes more.

The two City Councillors elected this May will represent the University and Scotforth Rural Ward, making sure that the needs of those of us living in this area are heard in the city. Over 3500 students on campus are eligible to vote, including students from the EU and Commonwealth. This is your chance to hear from the people who want those seats, and for you to decided where to put your vote!
