Ramadan is a holy month for Muslims, who fast (abstain from any food and drink) from dawn to dusk and engage in spiritual activities such as additional prayer, charity and self-reflection.
This Thursday 21st March, Lancaster Islamic Society (ISOC) and LUSU would like to invite you to a special Open Iftar (meal to end the fast each evening) event. All are welcome, regardless of your faith background, to learn more about this practice over a meal provided by Sultans.
The event will start from 5:15pm and you will be able to learn from student leaders about the special month. You will then be invited to join or observe a congregational prayer followed by the breaking of the fast.
A menu will include traditional dates, snacks provided by Bowland College and the County College JCRs, and a choice of vegetable or chicken biryani.
We hope to cater for as many guests as possible, however portions may be prioritised for those observing the fast.
The event will close at around 8pm.
