Explore Lancaster's Wild Urban Spaces on this LUSU Green Adventure!
We will head into the centre of Lancaster to explore three Wild Urban Spaces: Scotch Quarry Park, the Canal, and Fairfield Nature Reserve. The route is a 5km loop on foot. You will get to visit and learn about local community projects growing food and enhancing nature, discuss the importance of urban green spaces for wildlife and people and celebrate the changing seasons. We will do so with the help of books, binoculars and other materials such as identification sheets. No previous knowledge or experience is required.
We will provide tea and snacks and take some time to relax in this beautiful environment. As part of the day, you will get to take part in a ‘Mindful Moment’ as part of which we will lead you through a few minutes of grounding in and appreciation for the natural world around us.
We will meet in Alexandra Square at the steps leading to the underpass entrance at 1PM and get the bus into town. We will finish the afternoon around 16:00 in the centre of town. Travel will be free - please indicate preferences on the sign up form.
An e-mail will be sent to all registered participants a few days before the event.
Please ensure you are wearing appropriate outdoor footwear and clothing (warm and waterproof) - please let us know if you would like to borrow any items. You are welcome to bring snacks and a drink with you.
