Welcome to Lancaster University Handball Club!

A bit about the club

Lancaster University Handball Club (LUHC) is registered with the Students' Union (LUSU) as the official Handball Club for Lancaster University and hosts both a men's and a women's team. The club was founded in 2013 by an overly ambitious international student who had hoped to popularise handball in Lancaster, as it was in her homeland of Norway. Since then, the club has grown rapidly into a fully-fledged community with players of all levels.

 

What we have to offer

Here are a few things to entice you into joining:

• We are a competitive club and play in a series of tournaments and matches throughout the year. Some of the highlights are the BUCS National Handball tournament and our annual Roses match against York University (which we have yet to lose!)
• We are a diverse group of people with a range of experience and ability levels - there are plenty of players to learn from, and we welcome anyone who wants to play, whether you're a pro or a complete beginner.
• We are two teams but one club - having both a Men 's+ team and a Women 's+ team allows for plenty of collaboration in training and at our social events hosted throughout the year, from nights out at Sugar to movie nights staying in
• New to this year, we are introducing our Developmental Session. This will cover the more basics of handball, helping to get newer members up to speed and more prepared for the year ahead.

 

Training

We train every Tuesday from 15:45 to 17:15 (Mens+) , 17:15 to 18:45 (Womens+) and Sunday from 14:00 to 15:30 (Mixed) at the University Sports Centre. Our all-new Developmental Session will be every Thursday, 13:00 to 14:00  (Mens+ and Womens+).

Membership

A Sport Red Pass (or any of the gym memberships from the University Sports Centre) membership is required for Handball, before purchasing our membership. We are happy to help to show how to purchase this or have it added to an already existing gym membership!
