Description
Welcome!
Lancaster University Labour Club is the largest political society on campus, guided by underlying principles of equality, collectivism, social justice, unity, and tolerance, and we seek to provide a welcoming space for all. We host weekly meetings to discuss and debate various exciting topics, along with regular socials and events including our very popular presentation evenings. Together we have won many elections including a council by-election in the university ward in November 2021, and getting a councellor elected in the recent city council elections. We have close ties with the local Labour Party, the UCU, and other groups across Lancaster.
If you are interested in meeting your MP, learning more about the Labour Party, or just having lively political debates, come along to one of our weekly meetings. We usually focus on current affairs, and throughout the year, we have some excellent guest speakers who talk to us about their life in politics and offer up opportunities for lively debates. We work with our local Labour Party and our MP Cat Smith, to make our Labour Club a welcoming and engaging political hub, and hold regular canvassing sessions and campaign training if you wish to get involved in upcoming elections.
So if you want to discuss politics, nominate a right-wing womble of the week or become involved in campaigning for the Labour Party, come along to our Wednesday meetings, 6pm in Bowland North Seminar Room 22, get in touch via our Instagram @lancslabourclub, or email us at labourclub@lancaster.ac.uk. We will be very pleased to welcome you.
The Club is completely open and accessible to all students at Lancaster, and also students at the University of Cumbria.
