Discover Lancaster University's only investment society, bringing finance, investing, economics, and accounting, into one place.

 

We aim to increase members financial knowledge and awareness of the varying opportunities available in the sector - encouraging our members to build their professional network every step of the way.  We are proud organisers of a variety of exceptional events, such as our flagship ‘Lancaster Forum’ event, giving our members the perfect opportunity to network with industry professionals and gain an insight into life at Jefferies, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Blackrock, Bank of America, Barings, EY Parthenon, and the list goes on!

 

We are committed to professional development, organising a variety of workshops to develop the skills needed in the sector.

 

Our 5 successful initiatives are:

• The Ghosal Investment Fund - aims to develop a deep understanding of financial markets, experience equity investment on a first-hand basis and gain exposure to real-life situations related to asset management. 
• Sell-Side Institute - The M&A research arm of LEFS designed to equip our students with sufficient commercial-awareness and technical understanding of investment banking.
• Chatfield Research - Teaching students how to analyse current affairs at a macroeconomic and microeconomic level.
• McCormick Mentoring - Our mentoring programme, pairing current students with experienced students and recent alumni, who have secured spring weeks, internships, and full-time roles in sectors such as investment banking, private equity, equity research, credit ratings, audit, insurance, at firms such as Jefferies, J.P. Morgan, HSBC, EY, and many more!
• Access - Our initiative designed to bring together diversity and inclusion events into one space. Making it easier for those underrepresented in High Finance to find opportunities available for them and network with established professionals.

Previous LEFS members have said time and time again that getting involved in the society provided them with the transferable skills and industry contacts necessary to give them an edge to succeed in job applications.

 

We also run a series of social events for members where they can meet others interested in finance & economics and engage in the subject without being solely focused on careers!
