Welcome to Lancaster Snow (Lancs Snow)! ❄🌹
We are a lively student-run snowsports society for anyone interested in skiing and snowboarding. We welcome all abilities, from complete beginners to experts and competitive athletes. 2025–26 Ski Trip
One of the highlights of the uni calendar is our annual ski trip, with around 100 Lancaster students descending on the French Alps for a week of shredding the slopes and partying. This year we’re heading to Val Thorens, the highest resort in Europe and part of the largest linked ski area in the world, from 13–20 December 2025. Think long runs, dancing on tables at après, and huge club nights with all your friends. Our ski trips sell out quickly, so we encourage you to sign up early. Beginner Lessons
Subject to demand, we will arrange beginner lessons led by qualified instructors at Ski Rossendale dry slope, just a 45-minute drive from campus. It’s a great way to start your snowsports journey or to prepare for the ski trip.
Socials
Back in Lancaster we have a thriving social scene that more than makes up for the lack of snow. We host weekly themed ‘snocials’ every Wednesday night in Lancaster town centre and on campus. Our iconic nights out include the No-Snow Valley Run, the Three-Legged Race and the Bin Social. We also run special end-of-term events: a Christmas dinner and an end-of-year BBQ.
Race Training
We run slalom race training on Wednesday afternoons at Ski Rossendale dry slope. We’re always keen to introduce members to the competitive side of the sport we love, you don’t need to be a pro to come along.
Competitions
Kings Ski Club runs ‘the UK's largest ski & snowboard racing league’, bringing together university snowsports societies from across the country to compete in team-based ski and snowboard slalom races. We finished joint 7th at the Kings Finals in the 2024-25 season. Whether you’re competing or spectating, the heated race duals, heavy drinking, and big party atmosphere makes the Kings League a great day out. Our race teams also compete in several other inter-university dry slope competitions throughout the year, such as Stokestyle, and Roses.
Local Trips
We organise trips to The Snow Centre Manchester (formerly Chill Factore), home to the longest indoor, real snow ski slope in the UK, and day-trip parties to Haydock Park Racecourse run by INVADES.
Our Football Team
Lancs Snow Football Club is our men’s 7-a-side team; they compete on Sundays and also play friendly 11-a-side matches against other societies.
