LANCASTER UNIVERSITY WOMEN'S RUGBY UNION FOOTBALL CLUB

 

If you want to be a part of an inclusive community on and off the pitch, are looking for team spirit or just want to try out rugby - then LUWRUFC is the club for you.

 

 

Lancaster University Women's Rugby are an inclusive diverse club, welcoming new players of all abilities and experience. We don't run trials, but instead offer taster sessions so that you decide if you are part of the club, not us. We will ensure there is a place for you in our club should you decide to join us.

 

Currently, we have 2 teams that compete in BUCS League and Cup matches as well as an expanding development squad enrolled in the Allianz Inner Warrior league. We offer competitive matches at a range of levels to ensure you have the opportunity to play at the level you feel comfortable to.

 

 

However, being a part of the club is about so much more than just rugby. The club's focus is on offering members great value for their time commitment and as such we have a number of opportunities that we offer as well as a diverse and exciting social offering,  As a club we are proud to say that we do not engage in sponsorships with local bars and nightclubs, giving us the freedom to have our social events wherever and whenever we want. This allows us to provide a social offering aimed at all members and the flexibility to host our socials in venues that appeal to both drinkers and non drinkers alike. We have a big emphasis on wellbeing and vary our social events to ensure all members have the best time.  With designated wellbeing and health and safety officers and a wellbeing social calander like no other, your welfare is our main priority.

 

Over the past few years the club has doubled down on efforts to expand and ensure that we are the most inclusive club on campus. This hard work was recognised by both the University and BUCS as the club was voted Lancaster University Club of The Year and shortly after received the unexpected honour of being named BUCS Club of the Year for 2019, given to the best university sports club in the UK. More recently, in 2022, our club won University Team of the Year, our 1XV were Varsity Winners and we reached the BUCS National Trophy Final. Becoming Northern 2A champions in 2023, and succesfully retaining our place in Northern 1 in 2024 we are pushing for more and more great achievements in the future.
