Description

Sexpression Lancaster is a branch of the national charity Sexpression UK, a near-peer independent UK charity with the goal of empowering young people to make decisions about relationships and sex. We do this by running informal and comprehensive RSE workshops in local schools, and also by running outreach projects, advocacy campaigns, fundraising events and socials on campus. All of our members have the option to become volunteers for this not for profit organisation and, after receiving full training and a DBS check, are ready to visit schools and other groups in Lancaster and the surrounding areas to faciliate workshops covering a wide range of topics: from contraception and STIs, to healthy relationships and consent, sexual orientation and gender identity, the influence of pornography... and many more! This aspect of the society is not compulsory, however, and we also welcome members who feel that standing in front of a class isn't for them - there's plenty of other things to get involved with!

We believe that access to useful and inclusive RSE is a right, and are passionate about making this available to young people in our local area. We are looking to recruit members who are also passionate about this issue, to join our team of volunteers and to help us to deliver as many workshops as possible - and to spread the word about Sexpression and all things sexual health - over the coming year! Our members will also have the opportunity to be involved in our socials, on-campus campaigns and fundraising events, as well as national sex education conferences.
