Description

About:

This society was created by Sikhs at Lancaster dedicated towards education and awareness about Sikhi, and to provide a community for Sikhs on campus. We are open to all, regardless of religion and whether you are religious yourself. We regularly have events, including Gurdwara Trips (Sikh place of worship), discussions and socials that are non-alcoholic and vegetarian friendly. There are a variety of ages of students in the society, and we encourage both undergraduate and postgraduate students to join. This is a safe space and a tight-knit community, and we are always excited to welcome new people to our community.

The socials:

- Gurdwara trips: as there is no gurdwara in Lancaster we normally travel as a group (via train or car) to the ones in Preston

- The addresses for the gurdwaras are 24 Tunbridge Street, Preston PR1 5YP and 19a Bow Lane, Preston PR1 8ND

- annual bowling trips

- cinema trips

- Termly quiz and board game nights

- more educational events which include presentations about Bhandi chor divas, hola mohalla and other important events about Sikhi

- educational events, in previous years we have had external speakers come to speak about Sikhi such as Devanhaar
