Description

LUTG is one of the biggest and most active societies on campus. We are dedicated to giving members an opportunity to be involved in all aspects of theatre regardless of prior experience.

We perform 9-12 shows a year and offer various workshops, training sessions, showcases, and socials.

A typical weekly schedule in LUTG may look like:

Monday 18:00-22:00: Rehearsals for term shows (followed by Pints)

Tuesday 18:00-20:00: Workshop/training

Wednesday 18:00-22:00: Rehearsals for term shows (followed by Pints)

Sunday 12:00-18:00: Rehearsals for term shows (followed by Pints)

*Rehearsals for showcases and smaller performances are decided based on participants’ availability.

Membership is only £5 a term or £15 for the year.

For more information about our events, please see below:

Every year we put on 9 ‘term shows’ (3 a term) that rehearse every Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday. Within these you can try your hand at acting, directing, producing, or stage managing and unwind after rehearsals at Pints, our casual social in a campus bar. These shows are then performed either on campus or in town to a public audience.

Every year we also put on 3 ‘shorts’ (1 a term). Shorts are essentially smaller scale productions with lower budgets and fewer rehearsals offering a fantastic opportunity to try something new. Rehearsals for these vary depending on cast and crew availability. These shows are then also performed either on campus or in town to a public audience.

In addition to our shows we also offer multiple showcases, including an original writing showcase, various workshops, including acting workshops, detailed training sessions, including tool and tech training, and a range of socials including Oscars, our annual summer term awards ceremony and meal.

As a society we also foster various external partnerships with the likes of The Gregson Arts & Community Centre and The Lancaster Grand Theatre. As a member you will receive information about various events and opportunities you may be entitled to.
